Garatz, the Barbarian, is a member of the Obsidian Pantheon, and was one of the Twelve Gods. A Dwarf or Minotaur perpetually engulfed in flame and with a body of magma, he is perpetually enraged at the state of the world. He always has thought the gods should intervene directly in the world, earning himself a place forever on the far side of the Divinity Cascade, and is considered the most despised of all the deities.

Many conflicts between the gods start with Garatz's unprovoked assaults or involve him being tricked into assaulting another. His cataclysms have brought the world to their edge multiple times, and even the gods themselves question Ahm's wisdom in bringing him to Leurut.
