Baron Ersten Karovik was the Baron of Brightwood. He had ruled for several years, overseeing an increase in Brightwood's wealth and student population, but was always deeply unpopular thanks to unashamed cronyism.

With the invasion of the Kingdom of Inaze, he fled, presumably to Halasdoom, leaving Brightwood to fend for herself. His current precise whereabouts are unknown.
