Light's Army

There are two things meant by Light's Army. The first is as a byword for the religion of the Light, as prescribed by the prophet Dawncaller. The second refers to the specific, militant nascent polity based within the Temple City under Light's Heart.

Light's Army differs little from historical practice of the Light, largely because little is known of this practice before the Dawncaller. Of signal importance is still the practice of general kindness, an exultation of personal freedom combined with societal responsibility, and a strict belief in the rejoining or spoliage of the universal current of the Light upon death.

The deviations can be quickly summed up as follows:

• It is important for your soul to live among other followers of the Light in a holy nation, and be willing to take up arms in their defence.
• While it is acceptable, if necessary, to live amongst the oppression and lies of the Writ, ultimately Light's Heart cannot tolerate coexistence with unholy and false religions.
• The Temple of the Golden King, underneath the mountain of Light's Heart, is a holy place and where connection to the Light is strongest.

That second point is of the greatest contention: so far, as the numbers of Light's Heart grow, the Dawncaller preaches it but is yet to declare any kind of open conflict.

Commanded by Dawncaller, Light's Army can bring to bear an unknown number of peasants as foot soldiers and archers, thought to be below ten thousand. In addition, it is thought to possess very little cavalry.

More impressively, several hundred paladins serve the Light and are members of Light's Army. Seemingly, the devoted of the Light obtain preternatural powers at a greater speed than those of the Writ: a repeated fear among those in the know is that the number of Whiteshields may soon be swamped.
