**Baron Ersten Karovik** was the [[Baron of Brightwood]]. He had ruled for several years, overseeing an increase in [[Brightwood]]'s wealth and student population, but was always deeply unpopular thanks to unashamed cronyism.

With the invasion of the [[Kingdom of Inaze]], he fled, presumably to [[Halasdoom]], leaving Brightwood to fend for herself. His current precise whereabouts are unknown.
